The name DIYsigner refers to the connection of the freedom of the DIY (Do it yourself) movement and the expertise of the designers. At our DIYsigner workshops, we created furniture based on open designs of acknowledged designers with the help of professional carpenters, and the participants. The participants gained self-confidence in creating, and practical guidance  as how to use tools  and materials as the plans of the furniture got more easily understandable during the workshop. Our goal was to involve more people in the do it yourself furniture making and the open design movement.
